Corissa Howard is a mother of two, wife of over 27 years, and owner of C5 Fitness, LLC (#C5Life). She enjoys learning as a lifestyle and is currently a nursing student in Georgia. She homeschooled her children from Kindergarten through High School and was a homeschool educator in several programs.

Corissa believes in authenticity, miracles, and mysteries, and she desires to fulfil God’s calling through obedience. Her background is in fitness, education, and non-denominational Christian studies. She believes life is full of connected mysteries and encourages people to be comfortable in the discovery of them. Everyone has a story that is unraveling the great and mysterious creator of the universe. Her faith in Jesus has encouraged her to overcome life’s challenges entangled with doubt, fear, and worry that good enough is genuinely good enough. Often, we believe life is keeping us in a victim statehood like an orphan child, but when we begin to elevate our perspectives, we then become like a butterfly full of vibrant color, enjoying the beautiful surroundings without a care in the world. Our mental peace may take time and practice, but eventually, it will be present within us.

about the book

quotation-marks

In “No More Band-Aids,” Corissa writes that life isn’t a well-rehearsed Broadway performance designed for entertainment purposes; it’s what happens behind the curtains. The book is a special invitation to all the warriors hiding their pain from others to step out from under the weight of societal and cultural labels. The book’s central aspect is ‘Band-Aids’ – the figurative quick-fixes for deeper wounds. By highlighting this important element, Corissa wants to reflect how some people choose temporary, surface-level solutions for themselves when they feel broken, misunderstood, or afraid. The book revolves around a question: What happens when we stop labelling ourselves and start listening to our hearts without any external pressure? The answer is that we will have better versions of ourselves, devoid of hidden pain.
